Istanbul

Here are some images taken on two day coach trip to Istanbul from Bourges (Bulgaria) in June 2004

It was a nice journey as we had to travel through mountains, along quite narrow , winding, hilly roads between the two countries.

Istanbul is a very large sprawling city with a population of around 16 million

The city is built on seven hills, each with a large mosque on the top.

The Blue Mosque is unusual as it has six minarets and is named after the internal blue tiles

The Bosphorus is a narrow channel which flows through the city from the Black Sea, making for the Aegean sea in Greece.
